Ex-Talking Heads and Doors' Manzarek To Gather Vibes

(6/7/01, 2 p.m. ET) -- Former Talking Heads and current Tom Tom Club members Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth will be joining with the Doors' Ray Manzarek, former Jimi Hendrix Band Of Gypsies drummer Buddy Miles, and keyboardist Bernie Worrell for the Terrapin 30-Year Jam on June 30.

The jam will take place at the Gathering Of The Vibes festival, which runs June 29 through July 1 in Red Hook, New York. It commemorates the 30th anniversary of the 10-month period in which the world lost three of its greatest rockers--Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Doors' vocalist Jim Morrison.

The house band for the jam will be Blue Floyd, which consists of Gov't Mule drummer Matt Abts, former Black Crowes guitarist Marc Ford, keyboardist Johnny Neel, and bassist Berry Oakley Jr., son of the late Allman Brothers bassist.

The Gathering Of The Vibes Festival has a full lineup for the three-day festival, including Primus bassist extraordinaire Les Claypool and his Frog Brigade; the Dickey Betts Band; Medeski, Martin & Wood; and Tom Tom Club, among others.
