(6/17/99, 1 p.m. PDT) - Primus's forthcoming album, Anti-Pop, features a wide range of guests--from Police drummer Stewart Copeland and Metallica axeman Kirk Hammett to Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst.

Primus bass player Les Claypool tells how the band ended up with the guest players. "We decided that we wanted to work with a producer on this thing, but we couldn't really find that all-encompassing [producer], like that George Martin of today," he says.

"We got the idea to approach some artists whom we really respect and we approached people like Roger Waters, Peter Gabriel, and these different people...I was actually surprised how many people got back to us. Some weren't available, but it's pretty exciting when Roger Waters is contemplating producing a track for you, you know? Stewart Copeland got back to us right away and was excited…I actually got to jam with Stewart, which was, like, an unbelievable, phenomenal pinnacle in my career as a bass player, musician, whatever."

Although Primus didn't get former Pink Floyd mastermind Waters to work on the project, the band wasn't short on talent by any means. Other guests on the album include guitarist Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine, Tom Waits, Mark Osequeda of Death Angel, and Martina of Tricky. Anti-Pop will be released this fall.

Features on Les Claypool, Metallica, Limp Bizkit, George Martin, and Tricky are available on LAUNCH.com.
