A Perfect Circle Launches Headlining Tour

(8/18/00, 7 a.m. ET) - A Perfect Circle launches its firstheadlining tour in North America since the release of its debut, Mer DeNoms, tonight (August 18) in Boston. The trek will include 20 shows in30 days, concluding in Houston on September 16.

The Los Angeles band has been on the road almost non-stop since Mer DeNoms came out in June, and lead vocalist Maynard James Keenantells LAUNCH that one way to relieve the tedium of the highway is bywatching movies on the bus. But not just any movie, he insists: Only certainones fit the bill.

"The bus movies are always just turn-your-brain-off movies," hesays. "Somebody wanted to put on Run Lola Run, on the bus andeverybody just went, 'What are you doing?' It's a great movie, you don't putgreat movies on the bus. Subtitles? What are you thinking? No, no, no, no.Dumb And Dumber. Caddyshack. Stick to the basics."

Keenan adds, "It's more about a background noise. You just kind of puta movie on, on the bus, and it comes on, on front and back televisions. Yougo about your business and you catch a few lines from Dumb And Dumberwhile you're walking to the bathroom or whatever."
