Marcy Playground To Slide Songs To Fans
09/14/1999 4:00 AM, Yahoo! Music Craig Rosen
(9/14/99, 1 a.m. PDT) - Marcy Playground's new album, Shapeshifter, will hit record-store shelves on Nov. 2, but there's a way fans can get their hands on the songs sooner. Starting on Sept. 25, the band will offer fans who pre-order the CD an opportunity to download all 12 tracks on the album on the Internet. Capitol Records says this is the first time a major record company and platinum artist have offered their complete release six weeks before the retail date. The promotion will be available to all online retailers, radio stations, and their websites. Participating retailers include Tower Records, Wherehouse Records, CDNow, Musicland, Transworld, National Record Mart, and Virgin. Information on the promotion can be found at www.hollywoodandvine.com/marcyplayground. A chat to coincide with the Internet debut of the album will be held right here on LAUNCH.com on Sept. 24. The first single from Shapeshifter will be "It's Saturday," a song about a kid who was too sick to go to school on Friday, but recovers in time for Saturday. Other songs on the album include "Bye Bye," and "Pigeon Farm." To read a Marcy Playground feature, click here. -- Darren Davis, New York Got news tips, comments, or questions?
