(3/11/98) - You've seen her portray Selena. You've seen her opposite Woody Harrelson, Wesley Snipes and Jack Nicholson. You've even seen her shake her booty as one of the Fly Girls on In Living Color.

Now, be prepared for Jennifer Lopez: recording star.

The Work Group, home to Fiona Apple and Jamiroquai, has signed Lopez to what's called a long-term worldwide recording pact, a term generally used to describe deals where the company can drop you, but you're tied in to them for at least seven albums.

"Jennifer shares with [Fiona and Jamiroquai] the ability captivate a worldwide audience," said a quote attributed to co-presidents Jeff Ayeroff and Jordan Harris, who apparently speak in unison. "She is a great talent and we can't wait to begin work on her recording debut."
