Semisonic Is 'All About The Chemistry' On March Release

(1/3/01, 1 p.m. ET) - Semisonic has completed its All About Chemistry album, which is due out March 6. The band, whose "Closing Time" became a staple at bars across the country, was able to hook up with legendary songwriter Carole King, who contributed vocals and electric piano to the song "One True Love."

When asked how the new album differs from the rest of the Semisonic catalog, drummer Jake Slichter told LAUNCH, "The progressions are always hard to say. First of all because, as you make the record, things change," he explained. "You pull the walls down from here and you put them up there. And you decide to go with a different color tile for the bathroom, and you change the color scheme. And it's the same thing with music."

Of the album singer-songwriter Dan Wilson said, "First of all I wanted us to make something that would be really fun to play on big stages like the ones we'd moved up to. And I wanted it to be an album that had the vibe of a big party, everyone's invited. Finally, I told [bassist] John [Munson] and Jake that I wanted us to produce it ourselves. I figured this was a chance to get the new songs on a CD the way I heard them in my head."

The track listing for the album is: "Chemistry," "Bed," "Act Naturally," "She's Got My Number," "Follow," "Sunshine And Chocolate," "Who's Stopping You?," "I Wish," "One True Love," "Get A Grip," "Surprise," and "El Matador."
