(4/18/03, 5 p.m. ET) -- Tha Row Records (Death Row Records) has been dropped as a defendant in a wrongful death lawsuit which was filed last week in Los Angeles Superior Court by Carolyn Stinson which alleged that Death Row provided housing, a bodyguard, and the drug PCP to alleged murderer Antron "Big Lurch" Singleton.
Singleton is accused of killing Stinson's daughter Tynisha Ysais on April 10, 2002 after the two got high on PCP, and allegedly cutting Ysais open afterwards and eating part of her lungs.
Stinson's attorney Winston McKesson told Billboard, "We did our investigation into this matter, and it seems that our information received earlier was wrong. Death Row and Tha Row had no part in this, and we're filing a dismissal with respect to them today (April 16)."
Tha Row Records released the following statement, "Every time there are problems on the West Coast, people always try to involve Suge [Knight]. What's unfortunate about this is that it's difficult to un-ring a bell."
Stress Free Records, Singleton's bodyguard Derek Christopher, and Ysais' boyfriend Thomas Moore are still named as defendants in the wrongful death lawsuit.
Singleton was charged with murder and is being held without bail. If found guilty, Singleton could face the death penalty.
