Staind Gets Good News On The Home Front, Goes Gold

(7/23/03, 6 p.m. ET) -- Staind is currently enjoying a short break from their current tour in support of their album, 14 Shades Of Grey. The band's next show is this Friday (July 25) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and this leg of their U.S. tour will end with a pair of shows on August 3 and 4 in Springfield, Massachusetts--the band's hometown.
Guitarist Mike Mushok was so thrilled to learn how quickly tickets were snapped up for the two shows at the Hippodrome that he posted this message on the band's official website: "I just wanted to thank our hometown, Springfield, for really showing their support of us--thanx!! We had a show scheduled for the Hippodrome in Springfield for August 3, and it sold out in like 15 minutes. So we added a second show on August 4, and that sold out in like an hour, I was told. We can't wait to get home and play those shows because we haven't played in Springfield in quite some time. It should be awesome!"
Mushok told LAUNCH that the band's live set has been evolving. They have drawn from each of their albums (Tormented, Dysfunction and Break The Cycle), in addition to tracks from 14 Shades Of Grey. "Yeah, the set, we just try and combine a bit of all the records that we have," Mushok said. "At least...Not too much Tormented, but mostly Dysfunction, Break The Cycle and 14 Shades, and we just kind of change it up to see what songs we feel are working the best. And that's where we are right now with what we've been playing."
The band has already released two singles from 14 Shades of Grey--"Price To Play" and "So Far Away." The album, which was released in June, debuted at Number One on Billboard magazine's Top 200 album chart. In addition, it has been certified gold, marking sales of over half-a-million copies.
After a series of European dates that kick off in mid-August and wind up in mid-September, the band is expected to start another tour of the U.S.
