(8/1/03, 5 p.m. ET) -- Hip-hop's Suge Knight has been sent back to prison. The founder of Death Row Records, who's been jailed since June 27, was sentenced Thursday to 10 months in prison for violating his parole.
The sentence was handed down after California's parole board ruled Knight did strike a parking valet outside a Hollywood nightclub on June 21, following a hearing on the case held Thursday (July 31).
Outside the hearing, those involved in the incident said that Knight was "definitely not involved" in the attack on the valet, according to the AP. However, authorities were quoted as saying witnesses had changed their initial statements.
Knight has been convicted of assault more than once and was paroled from prison earlier this year. Upon his release, Knight vowed to take back over the hip-hop industry.
Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and the late Tupac Shakur are some of the artists who used to be on Knight's label.
