Train And Cake Lead California Music Awards Nominees

(12/14/01, 4 p.m. ET) -- Train and Cake are the leading nominees for the California Music Awards, which were announced on Thursday (December 13). Train was nominated for six awards: outstanding album (Drops Of Jupiter), outstanding single ("Tell Me"), outstanding rock pop album (Drops Of Jupiter), outstanding male vocalist (Pat Monahan), outstanding group, outstanding songwriter (Train).

Cake was nominated for outstanding songwriter (John McCrea), outstanding group, outstanding modern rock-alternative album (Comfort Eagle), outstanding single ("Short Skirt/Long Jacket"), and outstanding album.

Other artists who received multiple nominations include: Smash Mouth (four); Weezer, For Stars, Gorillaz, Tool, and No Doubt (three); Incubus, System Of A Down, Papa Roach, Macy Gray, and Melissa Etheridge (two); plus return nominees Joe Satriani, Boz Scaggs, Les Claypool, Blink 182, Henry Kaiser, and Jewel.

The California Music Awards are voted on by the public. The award ceremony will take place April 27 at the Henry J. Kaiser Arena in Oakland.
