(8/3/99, 1 a.m. PDT) - In a move that may add to her reputation as one of pop music's biggest divas, Whitney Houston canceled her final scheduled U.S. tour date over the weekend in Concord, Calif. one hour before showtime. The Aug. 1 date at the Concord Pavilion was canceled "because Whitney was not well enough to perform," according to a statement on the Arista Records website. The show will not be rescheduled, so refunds will be available to ticket holders. "We are currently working with the box office to sort out the refund situation, but do not have definitive word yet on how that will be handled," the statement read. Ticket holders should contact the box office or point of purchase on Wednesday for more information. Meanwhile, another supreme diva, Cher, who was ill with a mild flu and had to cancel several tour dates in the last two weeks, has returned to the road on her Believe tour. Last night (August 2) the singer performed at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, with openers Cyndi Lauper and Wild Orchid, marking her first live performance since falling ill. The singer is feeling much better, according to a spokesperson at Warner Bros. Records. Cher canceled shows in Detroit (July 23), Moline, Ill. (July 24), Cincinnati (July 28), and Indianapolis (July 27). In addition, a July 30 show in Tinley Park, Ill. and a July 31 show in St. Louis have each been postponed. The singer has rescheduled her postponed (July 23) concert, with special guests Lauper and Julio Iglesias Jr., for Sept. 12,. Tickets for the July 23 concert will be honored at the new date. Plans for rescheduling the other canceled dates are in the works. To read a Cyndi Lauper feature, click here. -- Nick Tsolkas and Jason Gelman, New York Got news tips, comments, or questions?
