Rob Halford Resurrected With New Group, Album, And Tour

(6/23/00, 3 p.m. ET) - Former Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford has kept a relatively low profile since the failure of his last venture, Two, but he will return this summer with a new band, a new album, and an opening slot on the high-profile Iron Maiden tour.

Halford's new group is called simply Halford and, like Judas Priest, is a quintet, with the singer is joined by guitarists Patrick Lachman and Mike Chlasciak, bassist Ray Riendeau, and drummer Bobby Jarzombek.

The group's debut album, Resurrection, was produced by Roy Z and will be released on August 8 on the Metal-Is/Sanctuary label in the U.S. and on EMI Canada north of the border.

"This album is by far and away the best work I have ever done in my solo career," said the metal master in a statement. "The reactions from everyone involved are the same as from everyone who's heard any of the tracks -- bloody amazing!"

Halford will make its debut as a live act in Toronto one week before the album's release (August 1), when it opens for Iron Maiden on that band's North American tour in support of the new album Brave New World. The tour, which also features Queensryche, arrives stateside at New York City's Madison Square Garden on August 5 and spans the U.S. for two months. Then Halford plans to play dates in Japan, Europe, and South America.

The full Resurrection song list features: "Resurrection," "Made In Hell," "Locked And Loaded," "Night Fall," "Silent Scream," "The One You Love To Hate," "Cyberworld," "Slow Down," "Twist," "Temptation," "Drive," and "Saviour."
