Clapton And King Together Again

(10/5/99, 1 a.m. PDT) - Eric Clapton and B.B. King will once again join substantial guitar forces, this time for a new album. A spokesperson for Reprise Records, Clapton's label, confirms that the guitarist has studio plans with King in January. The nature of the project is unknown, as is the home of the resulting album, although the spokesperson hoped it would be Reprise, which will release Clapton Chronicles: The Best Of Eric Clapton, on Oct. 12. King records for MCA Records. Both Clapton and King are on the bill for VH1's Save The Music benefit "Concert Of The Century." Also on the Oct. 23 bill at the White House in Washington, D.C. will be Aretha Franklin, John Fogerty, John Mellencamp, Bono, Gloria Estefan, Sheryl Crow, Lenny Kravitz, 'N Sync, and Late Show With David Letterman bandleader Paul Shaffer, who is the event's music director. The evening's hosts will include Ben Affleck, Angela Bassett, Meryl Streep, and Billy Bob Thornton. B.B.
