(3/18/03, 10 a.m. ET) -- Hootie & The Blowfish and the Goo Goo Dolls have been added to the lineup of the inaugural Dale Earnhardt Tribute Concert. The two latest additions join previously announced performers Sheryl Crow, Kenny Chesney, Alabama, and Brooks & Dunn. The event is scheduled to take place Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, on June 28.
The benefit concert is the first non-racing event to take place at the legendary motor speedway, and it will be the highlight of a day-long festival honoring the late, seven-time Winston Cup Champion Dale Earnhardt.
"I grew up in NASCAR country--Charleston, South Carolina--and I have always been a big racing fan," said Hootie frontman Darius Rucker. "I'm looking forward to sharing the stage with the memory of one of the greatest drivers in history."
The all-day festival of music and memories will benefit the Dale Earnhardt Foundation. Teresa Earnhardt established the Foundation as a means to carry on her husband's name and good works through the charitable causes he championed during his lifetime. The Foundation is a cornerstone of the Dale Earnhardt Legacy Program.
