The Clash Can Thank Talking Heads/Tom Tom Club Members For Their Rock Hall Votes

(11/8/02, 12 p.m. ET) -- A couple of friends of the Clash had a hand in the band's induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

2002 honorees Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth of Talking Heads and the Tom Tom Club told LAUNCH that they threw their support to their punk/new wave brethren. "I voted for the Clash. They're good guys. We know them, and they, they rock," Frantz said.

Weymouth added, "I did too. They were what punk bands are supposed to be--they were teenagers, very frustrated, very angry with the system as it was, and not understanding it, and just kind of oversimplifying."

The Clash, along with the Police, the Righteous Brothers, Elvis Costello & the Attractions, and AC/DC, were announced Thursday (November 7) as the newest inductees into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. The ceremony will take place March 10, 2003, at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City, and an edited version of the ceremony will air shortly thereafter on VH1.
