Creed Impersonator Nabbed

(5/1/03, 10 a.m. ET) -- A man in Clearwater, Florida has been arrested for theft, committed while posing as Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti. Kevin Eckenrod is being held on $20,000 bail for credit card theft while impersonating Tremonti. He also allegedly used his resemblance to Tremonti to get free drinks and a place to stay.

Eckenrod is accused of stealing a credit card from a young woman who invited him back to her place believing he was the Creed guitarist. He was spotted by the woman in a restaurant on Sunday (April 27), and she notified the police.

Law enforcement officials said that Eckenrod had been arrested over 60 times. Police told Billboard that Eckenrod proudly claimed to be an alcoholic, and also said "This is getting old, but you have to admit I do look like the guy from Creed."
