(3/6/03, 5 p.m. ET) -- Staind will release its new album, now titled 14 Shades Of Grey, on May 6. The set contains a tribute to the late Layne Staley of Alice In Chains.
Frontman Aaron Lewis said the song, "Layne," is his way of not forgetting Staley, whose death he feels was not commemorated enough.
Lewis also respects Staley's songwriting, which documents drug abuse and emotional turmoil, as an influence. "I wasn't doing heroin, but I could still relate and it helped me through times that it seems like my music has helped other people through," Lewis said.
The album is the follow-up to the multi-platinum Dysfunction, and the band is considering an acoustic-based tour to support it.
