(9/24/03, 3 p.m. ET) -- Rapper C-Murder, the younger brother of Master P, is currently on trial facing second-degree murder charges which carry a life sentence. On Monday (September 22), Tanika Rankin, who was at the nightclub when the shooting took place, testified that she saw the rapper shoot the victim, 16-year-old Steve Thomas, according to the Times-Picayune.
Rankin told the court that she heard, C-Murder, whose real name is Corey Miller, tell Thomas, "You don't know who the f--k I am," and Thomas responded, "I don't care who you are." She testified that Miller and several friends dressed in black proceeded to beat up Thomas. The rapper then reached under his shirt and extended his arm towards Thomas. Rankin said she didn't actually see the weapon but saw sparks fly from where the weapon would have been.
Last week security guard, Darnell Jordan, testified that he also saw the rapper murder the teen.
Another witness KeShawn Jones, recanted her earlier testimony on Monday. Jones said that she initially testified that Miller was the triggerman because she didn't want police to arrest her for outstanding parking tickets, so she told them what they wanted to hear.
The trial is scheduled to resume on Wednesday (September 24).
C-Murder, who has been held without bail in Louisiana's Jefferson Parish jail since January of 2002, is accused of shooting and killing Thomas after an argument at Club Platinum in Harvey, Louisiana, on January 12.
