12/07/2000 4:00 PM, Yahoo! Music Craig Rosen
(12/7/00, 4 p.m. ET) - Vertical Horizon has canceled tour dates in Detroit on Friday (December 8) and Atlanta on Saturday (December 9) due to the death of a member of vocalist/songwriter Matt Scannell's family, a spokesperson told LAUNCH. The band resumes its tour on Monday (December 11) in Pittsburgh.
Reports are circulating that the Vertical Horizon frontman lost his mother earlier in the week, but a group spokesperson wouldn't discuss the personal matter. The band was in the midst of a radio station festival tour at the time of the cancellations, and at press time there were no make-up dates for Detroit and Atlanta.
Vertical Horizon will tour with Sister Hazel beginning February 12 in Providence, Rhode Island. The complete list of dates hasn't been announced, but initial dates reportedly include:
February 1 - Providence, RI - Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel
February 9 - Annapolis, MD - Alumni Hall
February 10 - West Point, NY - Eisenhower Hall
February 18 - Elizabethtown, PA - Elizabethtown College
