Talking Heads Deny Bad Feelings Among Band Members
03/21/2002 5:00 PM, Yahoo! Music Jerry Armor
(3/21/02, 5 p.m. ET) -- After their induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Monday (March 18), Talking Heads tried to quash any stories about the band members not getting along. In the backstage pressroom, bassist Tina Weymouth blamed the media for any bad feelings over the years.
Her husband, drummer Chris Frantz, said, "People perceived us as being, like, angry at each other and acrimonious, and stuff like that--and to a great extent, that was a false perception."
For his part, lead singer-guitarist David Byrne said the induction had "helped smooth things out some."
Frantz added that he and his fellow Heads weren't living in the past, but were really enjoying the moment. "It's wonderful to be back together, and I think we're all very grateful to have a happy night like this, and to have a good vibe," he said.
