Actress and rapper Queen Latifah has been tapped to host VH1 Divas Duets at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas on May 22. The show will feature performances from Mary J. Blige, Chaka Khan, Jewel, and several other still-to-be-confirmed guests. The show will air live on the cable music channel beginning at 9 p.m. ET.
Tickets for the show will go on sale on Saturday (April 12) at 10 a.m. PT at the MGM Grand Garden box office, and also via Ticketmaster. Ticket prices are $175, $125, and $60.
VH1's Divas series raises funds for VH1 Save The Music Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring instrumental music programs in America's public schools.
In related news, Queen Latifah is reportedly in talks to appear in the Barbershop sequel and to star in a spinoff of the movie called Beautyshop. The Oscar-nominated actress would make a cameo in Barbershop 2, playing the owner of a nearby salon, and the character would be the main focus of Beautyshop.
The spinoff would be produced by Latifah, who executive produced Bringing Down The House, the box-office hit now in theaters.
Latifah picked up an Oscar nomination for her role in last year's Chicago, and is a successful rapper whose early hits include "Ladies First" and "U.N.I.T.Y."
