R.E.M.'s Buck To Hit Road With Minus 5, Wilco

(8/29/02, 1 p.m. ET) -- R.E.M.'s Peter Buck will again hit the road with his main sidegig, the Minus 5, which has several west coast shows lined up with Wilco. This time around, the guitar-pop group headed by Buck and Northwestern indie-rock icon Scott McCaughey will also feature former Posies co-founder and current R.E.M. sideman Ken Stringfellow, among others.

Six shows are scheduled with Wilco, with whom McCaughey recently recorded an album, also under the Minus 5 moniker. The group will also play its own headlining gigs throughout the two-week trek, which begins September 2 at the Bumbershoot festival near Minus 5's homebase of Seattle.

Wilco, meanwhile, is touring in support of its acclaimed release, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.

September 6-7 - San Francisco, CA - The Warfield (w/Wilco)

September 8 - San Francisco, CA - Cafe du Nord (Minus 5 only)

September 9-10 - Los Angeles, CA - John Anson Ford Theater (w/Wilco)

September 12 - San Diego, CA - TBA (w/Wilco)

September 13 - Los Angeles, CA - Spaceland (w/Shuggie, Denali, Brian Jonestown Massacre)

September 14 - San Francisco, CA - Parkside Lounge (w/ Spinning Jennies, the Orange Peels)
