(11/16/00, 10 a.m. ET) - Epic Records will release The Best Of Volume One, a collection of greatest hits and B-sides by Silverchair, on December 12.
The 23-track collection will showcase the Australian trio's best known songs, including "Tomorrow," "Pure Massacre," and "Abuse Me." Ten cuts previously unreleased in the United States will also be featured, including covers of "Wasted" and "Fix Me," originally recorded by legendary punk rock outfit Black Flag.
The album is the band's final salvo on Epic Records: the parties ended their half-decade-long relationship earlier this year (LAUNCH, 10/11). However, according to a mention on the band's official website (a href="http://www.chairpage.com">chairpage.com), Silverchair is not endorsing the release.
A spokesperson at Epic Records had no comment regarding the band's role in the project.
Silverchair is currently writing and rehearsing at home in Newcastle, Australia. The band will perform at the Rock In Rio festival in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, in January, closing out the massive week-long event on a bill with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The complete track listing is: "Anthem For The Year 2000," "Freak," "Ana's Song (Open Fire)," "Emotion Sickness," "Israel's Song," "Tomorrow," "Cemetery," "The Door," "Miss You Love," "Abuse Me," "Pure Massacre," "Untitled," "New Race," "Trash," "Ana's Song (Open Fire)" (Acoustic Remix), "Madman," "Blind," "Punk Song 2," "Wasted/Fix Me," "Wasted," "Fix Me," "Minor Threat," and "Freak (Remix For Us Rejects)."
