Enya To Perform At Academy Awards

(3/7/02, 4 p.m. ET) -- Irish new age music phenomenon Enya will make a rare live performance, at the Academy Awards in Los Angeles later this month, performing "May It Be," from the soundtrack to The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring.

The song is nominated in the category of best original song, along with Paul McCartney's title song for Vanilla Sky; Randy Newman's Monsters, Inc. contribution "If I Didn't Have You"; the Faith Hill-sung, Dianne Warren-composed "There You'll Be," from Pearl Harbor; and Sting's "Until...," from Kate & Leopold.

Sting will also perform on the show.

The 74th annual Academy Awards will be presented March 24 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. The show will be carried live on ABC-TV.
