(7/9/01, 6 p.m. ET) -- The Verve Pipe returns to action September 11 with its third RCA Records release, Underneath. The album, featuring first single "Never Let You Down," was produced by Fountains Of Wayne main man Adam Schlesinger for a more accessible sound. "This is such a summer record," says Pipe frontman Brian Vander Ark. "We're totally enjoying ourselves and not taking things so seriously." The complete track listing is: "Only Words," "Never Let You Down," "I Want All Of You," "Miles Away," "Happiness Is," "Medicate Myself," "Gotta Move On," "Local Boys," "Colorful," "Wonderful Waste," and "Underneath." Vander Ark and Underneath's title track can also be found in the upcoming Mark Wahlberg film, Rock Star, based on the rags-to-riches story of Tim "The Ripper" Owens, a singer in a Judas Priest cover band who joined the real group after the departure of Rob Halford. The movie opens September 14. The Verve Pipe is perhaps best known for its 1997 song, "The Freshmen." --Neal Weiss, Los Angeles Got news tips, comments, or questions?
