(7/6/01, 7 a.m. ET) -- The Damned, one of punk rock's seminal bands, is getting a helping hand from modern-day punk Dexter Holland of the Offspring. Grave Disorder, the forthcoming album by the Damned, will be released by Holland's label, Nitro Records.
The album, due out August 21, features a song about the deification of the Beatles' John Lennon titled "Would You Be So Hot." The song's lyrics include, "Suddenly you are twice the man you used to be, excessive fame in quick death. Would it be different if he had gone instead?" Guitarist Captain Sensible added, "[Lennon] wasn't perfect. Far from it. I think he would have agreed with that too, and sneered."
The Damned claim to be the first to band to release a punk-rock single, the first punk band to tour the States, and an influence on many bands. The Ramones were big fans. In fact, the Damned performed at the late Joey Ramone's Birthday Bash back in May.
