Michelle Branch, Pretenders, Jennifer Love Hewitt Set For 'Women Rock!' Taping

(10/10/02, 10 a.m. ET) -- Michelle Branch, the Pretenders, Gloria Estefan, Chaka Khan, Lee Ann Womack, and host Jennifer Love Hewitt will all step before the video cameras Thursday (October 10) in Los Angeles for the taping of the third annual Women Rock! Girls And Guitars television special.

The concert, taking place at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre, is a collaborative effort between the Lifetime cable channel and Marie Claire magazine for the network's public-awareness campaign, Our Lifetime Commitment: Stop Breast Cancer For Life. Past participants have included Sheryl Crow, the Dixie Chicks, Nelly Furtado, and Heart's Ann and Nancy Wilson.

Furtado told LAUNCH at last year's taping that there's never enough awareness when it comes to breast cancer. "We're trying to remove the stigma from breast cancer because it's such a real thing," she said. "I'm 22. Young people don't want to think about breast cancer, they think it's their mom's disease. But that's why I'm here, trying to get rid of that stigma. You know, talk about boobs, talk about examining your breasts. That's what it's all about. You can wear the pink ribbon, you can talk about awareness, (but) what is it really about? Down to the meat and potatoes, you know?"

The concert airs October 25 on Lifetime.
