Beck To Use Flaming Lips As Backing Band For October Tour

(8/15/02, 4 p.m. ET) -- Beck will use alternative-rock cult favorites the Flaming Lips as his backing band for October tour dates in support of his new album, Sea Change, due September 24 from Geffen Records. The Oklahoma City trio will also serve as the opening act.

"The Lips will open up with their own set, before playing with the man himself on his set," a note on the Lips' website (flaminglips.com) reads.

No further details regarding the tour are currently known.

Sea Change is Beck's return to acoustic-based material. The Lips released their latest album, Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots, to considerable critical acclaim in July.
