Our Lady Peace Drummer A Fill-In 'Hero' For Video

(7/31/02, 12 p.m. ET) -- Chad Kroeger and Josey Scott's "Hero" is a cross-format hit, but the video for the track needed a real hero--Our Lady Peace drummer Jeremy Taggart. The recorded track features former Soundgarden drummer and current Pearl Jam skin-basher-for-hire Matt Cameron, but when an emergency happened right before the video shoot, it was Taggart to the rescue.

Taggart told LAUNCH about the unforeseen opportunity. "Matt had a family emergency that night and had to split and the video was like the day after. Matt was like, 'Man, can you do this for me?' And Chad gave me a call and was like, 'Man, Is this cool? Could you cover for us?' And I was like, 'Yeah, man, no problem.' Because I had owed Matt a favor previously because he played on (the last album) Spiritual Machines when I was injured, so it kind of worked out. It was fun."

"Hero" is currently Number Five on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, and it's Number Nine on the publication's Modern Rock chart.
