(11/6/01, 7 a.m. ET) -- Harry Connick Jr., the prolific singer-songwriter whose musical Thou Shalt Not just hit Broadway, now has the pleasure of having two albums simultaneously debut in the upper half of the Billboard 200. Connick's Songs I Heard bows at Number 88, while his 30 enters at Number 94.
This isn't the first time Connick has named an album with a number. Previous numerical albums have included 11, 20, and 25, each one recorded when Connick was that particular age.
Connick explains why he's named the albums after his age: "There's a conceptual theme that runs through these recordings. It captures a moment in time, it's like a snapshot of where I'm coming from musically."
Guest artists on the album include the late gospel singer Rev. James Moore on "There's Always One More Time," and trumpeter Wynton Marsalis on "I'll Only Miss Her (When I Think of Her)."
Songs I Heard features Connick's interpretations of tunes he remembers from his childhood. The album includes such fare as "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" from Mary Poppins, "Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead" from The Wizard Of Oz, and "Oompa Loompa" from Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory.
