(9/25/01, 3 p.m. ET) -- The Calling's first single from Camino Palmero, "Wherever You Will Go," is striking a chord with listeners, especially in light of the recent terror attacks in New York City and Washington D.C. The song was already garnering airplay before the incidents occurred. Guitarist/songwriter Aaron Kamin and singer-songwriter Alex Band told LAUNCH about how the initial meaning of the song has changed for them.
"My cousin passed away, and he and his wife had been married for 50 some-odd years, and I was just putting myself in his shoes. Like, losing somebody after, like, 50 years," Kamin said.
"...Like wanting to go with them in a way," Band added. "That's what the song is speaking to, in that way."
Kamin continued, "It's just become more relevant in our lives as the world has changed recently. It's been rekindled even more so for us, I think, right about now."
Band told LAUNCH that "Wherever You Will Go" went to CHR and Modern AC radio stations Tuesday (September 25).
The Calling is in New York for a show tonight (September 25) at Irving Plaza with Lifehouse. Dates run through October 1 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
