(6/9/02, 10 a.m. ET) -- C-Murder (Corey Miller), the younger brother of Master P, will have his day in court on September 17, the day his second-degree murder trial begins. The rapper, who is currently being held without bail in Louisiana's Jefferson Parish jail, maintains that he is innocent and that his case is one of mistaken identity.
C-Murder, who entered a plea of not guilty, is accused of shooting 16-year-old Steve Thomas after an argument at Club Platinum in Harvey, Louisiana, in January. The rapper was charged with second-degree murder and then ordered held without bail after authorities claimed he bribed two Jefferson Parish officers to smuggle in a cell phone and charger. Prosecutors believe that the rapper might have been using the phone to get friends to intimidate potential witnesses.
C-Murder's latest release, Tru Dawgs, is currently Number 163 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
