(8/11/00, 1 p.m. ET) - A Perfect Circle will make "3 Libras" the next single from its debut album, Mer De Noms. The announcement comes as the alt-metal group continues to gear up for its first-ever headlining tour of the United States, which launches in Boston on August 18. Dates run at least through mid-September, with more to be scheduled for after the first of the year. Meanwhile, the group continues its series of dates as part of Canada's Summersault 2000 tour, also featuring Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters, Deftones, and others. Fans in Vancouver, British Columbia were given an added treat late last week when APC lead singer Maynard Keenan joined the Deftones on stage to sing "Passenger," the song that he and the Deftones' Chino Moreno sang together on the 'Tones' latest album, White Pony. Moreno tells LAUNCH how the pair originally worked out the duet on the song."You know, I gave him the theme of what I wanted the song to kinda be about, and he wrote a couple ideas down," he recalls," "and the next day he came back and he had all the lyrics written all out with, you know, blank spaces where my lyrics were supposed to be. He's very professional like that, wants everything set perfectly, which is a completely different way than I write, so it was cool. And then I went in and did my vocals over it, and I mean, our voices just seemed to just meld together pretty good." A Perfect Circle plays tonight (August 11) in Barrie, Ontario. -- Neal Weiss, Los Angeles
