(2/14/01, 10 a.m. ET) -- Beach Boy Brian Wilson has been added to the star-studded lineup of artists who will pay tribute to Paul Simon when he is honored as the MusiCares 2001 Person of the Year on Monday (February 19). According to Wilson's official website (brianwilson.com), he will perform the classic Simon & Garfunkel song "Sounds Of Silence." A complete list of songs to be performed by other artists has not yet been released.
Wilson was a late addition to the performing guest list, which already includes past MusiCares honorees Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Tony Bennett, and Gloria Estefan, as well as Ruben Blades, Shawn Colvin, the Dixie Hummingbirds, Macy Gray, Edie Brickell (Simon's wife), Shelby Lynne, Ziggy Marley, Moby, Joan Osborne, Danny Rivera, and Take 6.
Other artists scheduled to attend but not perform include Kenny Loggins, Peter Frampton, Boyz II Men, Brian McKnight, and the Baha Men.
Simon, a 16-time Grammy winner, will be honored at the 11th annual MusiCares tribute dinner, concert, and silent auction at the Century Plaza Hotel Ballroom in Los Angeles. QVC will broadcast live from the auction beginning at 9 p.m. ET, with special guest host Michael McKean interviewing celebrities in attendance. The MusiCares tribute is part of a week of Grammy-related events leading up to the actual 43rd Annual Grammy Awards ceremony, which CBS will air live beginning at 8 p.m. ET on February 21.
