Beck, Flaming Lips Set First Tour Dates

(9/12/02, 5 p.m. ET) -- Beck has inked the first 11 dates of his upcoming tour that will featuring the Flaming Lips as his backing band, kicking things off October 17 in Minneapolis. The current itinerary focuses exclusively on destination points in the Midwest and Northeast. The Lips will also serve as the opening act.

Beck's latest album, Sea Change, arrives September 24 from Geffen Records. The release recalls the eclectic artist's 1998 acoustic-based affair, Mutations. The Lips are touring in support of their latest album, Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots.

October 20 - Toronto, ON - Massey Hall

October 21 - Detroit, MI - Detroit Orchestra Hall

October 24 - Columbus, OH - Mershon Auditorium

October 25 - Cleveland, OH - Palace Theater

October 26 - Syracuse, NY - Landmark Theater

October 28 - Boston, MA - Orpheum

October 30 - New York City, NY - Beacon Theater

October 31 - New York City, NY - Beacon Theater
