(4/22/01, 7 a.m. ET) -- Former Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach placed a message on his website expressing grief and fond remembrances of Joey Ramone last Sunday (April 15). "The world has lost one of the greatest frontmen of all time, and I have lost a friend, and the New York scene has lost one of the nicest guys it's ever known," said Bach.
He added that the two had a somewhat close relationship. "I first met Joey Ramone in 1989 when he came to see me and Skid Row at the Cat Club," said Bach. "He was always into the band and a very nice guy. Every time I went out in New York I would see him and hang out with him. He was at both of my solo shows in '98 and 2000. He actually got his band, the Independents, whom he managed, to open for my solo band in New York in early 2000."
Ramone appeared in the video for Skid Row's version of the Ramones classic "Psycho Therapy," off the B-Sides Our Selves album. In return Ramone asked Bach to sing "Out Of Time," originally by the Rolling Stones, as a duet with him. Bach said, "That was another fantastic day. I didn't make the record but I have it on DAT or mini-disc...He was a really good guy; a really good friend. I remember you Joey; I love you, man; and thank you for being one of the greatest guys I've ever met."
