(1/28/00, 10 a.m. ET) - James Mangold, director of the critically acclaimed film Girl, Interrupted, uses one of his favorite bands to make an important point in the film. The movie focuses on a teenage girl who is admitted to a psychiatric hospital and subsequently gets to know the idiosyncrasies of her fellow patients. Mangold says that singer-songwriter Jeff Tweedy's band
Wilco provided the perfect accompaniment to one of his scenes. "We did this elaborate montage to this song by one of my favorite bands: Wilco. I think they're an incredible band… And it's this beautiful song that I would listen to all the time when I was driving to the hospital to the shoot each morning… called 'How To Fight Loneliness.' And we built a pretty elaborate montage in the center of the film to that song." The movie is in theaters now and stars Winona Ryder, Golden Globe-winner Angelina Jolie, Whoopi Goldberg, Clea Duvall, and Vanessa Redgrave. You can find "How To Fight Loneliness" on the Girl, Interrupted soundtrack and Wilco's 1999 album,
