(1/26/00, 6 p.m. ET) - Singer-guitarist Brian Vander Ark took a brief vacation from the Verve Pipe to cultivate his ambitions as an actor at the annual Sundance Film Festival, happening this week in Park City, Utah. Vander Ark has recently completed three films, and while roles in upcoming titles The Space Between Us and Mergers And Acquisitions are but bit parts, he gets more prominent screen time in the indie flick, Road Kill. Vander Ark tells LAUNCH that he gets to play a talentless, but likeable country singer.

"So I got to write a really bad country song and play a really bad country guitar solo… it's called 'Tattletale Heart.' Isn't that a great country title?'" Vander Ark even offered some of the lyrics: "You arrived from the start, he's got a tattletale heart."

The Verve Pipe singer also reports that he has just signed on to act in a film starring Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston, playing the role of the bassist in Wahlberg's rock band.

Meanwhile, Vander Ark, the musician, played a rare solo performance for festival attendees on Tuesday (Jan. 25). As for the Verve Pipe, the group continues to support its self-titled third album. Expect "La La" to be issued as a single some time in March.
