(12/1/00, 6 p.m. ET) - Previously unreleased tracks by Hootie & the Blowfish, Fastball, and Toad The Wet Sprocket are featured on the new benefit compilation album Stop Handgun Violence, now in stores from Rounder Records. Hootie offers a cover version of Bill Withers's "Lovely Day," and Fastball serves up a live take of its own "Good Old Days," while the now-defunct Toad pulled the song "This Is My Life" from its own vaults.

The album features 20 tracks in all, including previously released tunes by Sugar Ray ("Someday"), Vertical Horizon ("Trying To Find Purpose"), Sixpence None The Richer ("Kiss Me"), and Cake ("Guitar").

Stop Handgun Violence benefits the Boston-based, non-profit organization of the same name. According to SHV, more than 32,000 Americans died from gun violence in 1999, which factors out to 88 people per day, including 12 under the age of 19.

The complete track listing is: "I'm On Your Side," Bonnie Raitt; "Kiss Me," Sixpence None The Richer; "Guitar," Cake; "This Is My Life," Toad The Wet Sprocket; "Someday," Sugar Ray; "Put Down Your Gun," Jon Pousette-Dart; "I Could Not Ask For More," Edwin McCain; "Trying To Find Purpose," Vertical Horizon; "Any Little Town," the Push Stars; "Tom & Mary," Ben Folds Five; "Lovely Day," Hootie & The Blowfish ; "Sharing the Night Together," the Infractions; "If It Were Up to Me," Cheryl Wheeler; "Show Me A Sign," Chicago; "Go Daddy-O," Big Bad Voodoo Daddy; "Better Believe It," Fred Lipsius; "Good Old Days (Live)," Fastball; "America," Marcy Playground; "Why Can't We Be Friends?," Jonathan Edwards, John Hall, Jon Pousette-Dart, Dr. Hook featuring Ray Sawyer; and "So Sad to Say," the Mighty Mighty Bosstones.
