Jay-Z Readies Movies, Xzibit Discusses Future Plans

(1/21/00, 4 p.m. ET) - Jay-Z's latest business venture includes a two-picture deal with Miramax, which will release a backstage documentary of the rapper's Hard Knock Life tour. The film will include footage of Jay-Z, DMX, Method Man, Redman, and others. Jay-Z also co-owns Roc-A-Fella Records and the Roca Wear clothing line with Damon Dash and Kareem "Biggs" Burke. Jay-Z's fourth album, Vol. 3...Life And Times Of S. Carter, has sold more than 750,000 copies since its release on Dec. 28. The Hard Knock Life tour film will arrive in theaters nationwide at the end of March. In other hip-hop news, Xzibit has experienced a tremendous increase in visibility since appearing on Snoop Dogg's "B Please" single, and now he will unveil his own Open Bar Entertainment company later this year. The rapper revealed the information on a recent LAUNCH.com chat. One album that the Los Angeles-based artist's label plans to release is from the Golden State Warriors, a super-group comprised of Xzibit, Ras Kass, and Saafir. The Golden State Warriors album will see release after Xzibit's third solo album, The Restless, which is due this summer.
