Dee Snider To Revisit 'Strangeland'

(1/21/00, 1 p.m. ET) - When ex-Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider isn't taking a stand against Braves pitcher John Rocker for using the song "I Wanna Rock" he keeps himself immersed in a variety of projects, including the world of film. Snider will soon start production on Strangeland 2, a sequel to his 1998 sci-fi horror movie Strangeland. "Production offices open Feb. 5 in Toronto. I start filming March 20 on Strangeland 2, which will be released next fall," he says. Snider released the sci-fi horror flick Strangeland through an independent company, but now he's ready to take the concept and movie -- featuring main character Captain Howdy -- to the next level. Asked what he thought of the success of the first movie, Snider tells, "Given the parameters of an independent film with a very limited theatrical release, I'm really happy. It's done really well at video; now it's hitting cable, and you know -- in my target audience 16 to 26 -- you'd be hard pressed to find a kid there who hasn't seen it or heard about it. And now with it being on cable, the audience is building and I think this next one, with a bigger budget and a wider release, we're gonna see much stronger results, and the franchise will definitely build." The first Strangeland film did have some star power outside of Snider -- it also featured Kevin Gage (Point Break) and Robert Englund, the actor who made the nightmarish Freddy Krueger famous. -- Darren Davis, New York Got news tips, comments, or questions?
