Pearl Jam & 3 Doors Down Enter Album Chart Top 10

(11/21/02, 6 p.m. ET) -- Pearl Jam's new effort, Riot Act, debuts at Number Six and 3 Doors Down's new album, Away From The Sun, enters at Number Eight on this week's Billboard 200.

3 Doors Down's Brad Arnold told LAUNCH that the huge success of the band's debut, The Better Life, gave the band freedom with the new album.

"With your music, when it succeeds you just gradually can pull people, I guess, more to the things that you want them to hear. Or maybe you can get them to accept things that maybe they wouldn't accept off a first record or something. I don't know. We want to just keep growing and keep rocking."

Meanwhile, Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard says that Pearl Jam will hit the road to support Riot Act in 2003. But he also wants to work with his other band, Brad. Pearl Jam is set to hit Australia the first part of 2003, Gossard told LAUNCH.

"After that Pearl Jam is going to do two or three months of touring, but I think then Pearl Jam is off in the summer so maybe Brad will do some more touring then, or maybe we'll make another record. We're kind of just pick and choose."

Other notable modern rock debuts this week include Saliva's Back Into Your System (Number 19), U2's Best Of 1990-2000 both with and without B-sides (Number 27 and 34, respectively), and Crazy Town's Darkhorse (Number 120).
