Jane's Addiction Recording First Studio Album in 12 Years

(6/25/02, 4 p.m. ET) -- Jane's Addiction is recording its first studio album in 12 years, working with veteran producer Bob Ezrin.

The Los Angeles band has reportedly completed eight tracks so far, hoping to release the new album by this coming fall or winter, though a label deal has yet to be secured. The group's last studio release was 1990's Ritual De Lo Habitual, which yielded the group's biggest hit in "Been Caught Stealing."

Last year, Jane's Addiction reunited for the brief six-week Jubilee tour, including an appearance at the Coachella Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California. A decade ago, Farrell created Lollapalooza, ushering a new style of music festival tours. He hopes to revise and revive the concept within the next few years.

Farrell, both solo and with Jane's Addiction, joins Cypress Hill, Pennywise, Ozomatli, the Breeders, Bad Brains, Groove Armada, and Roni Size for the first Mextravaganza music festival in Los Cabos, Mexico, August 30 through September 1.

A producer, songwriter, and musician, Ezrin's credits span three decades and landmark albums such as Pink Floyd's The Wall and Lou Reed's Berlin; as well as Kiss's Destroyer, Aerosmith's Get Your Wings, and numerous Alice Cooper releases including School's Out, Billion Dollar Babies, and Welcome To My Nightmare. He's also helmed recordings by the Jayhawks, Peter Gabriel, Air Supply, and Berlin.
