(10/1/02, 4 p.m. ET) -- Filter frontman Richard Patrick has checked himself into an undisclosed rehabilitation facility, effectively canceling all live appearances by the group until further notice. News came Tuesday (October 1), on the eve of the kick-off of the band's so-called Rellim tour in support of its latest album, The Amalgamut, to have taken place at the Quest club in Minneapolis.
In a statement, Patrick said, "I want to apologize to all my friends and fans for having to cancel these upcoming shows, but right now I'm concerned about my health and want to get back into the best physical and mental condition to go back on the road next year."
There are no current plans to reschedule any of the 36 dates scheduled through the end of November, 10 overseas shows among them. However, Filter hopes to be back on the road in early 2003, according to a spokesperson at Reprise Records.
Refunds can be made at the point of purchase.
