Lollapalooza Announces Dates, Incubus Hopes Original Spirit Is Kept

(3/18/03, 4 p.m. ET) -- Dates for the return of Lollapalooza have been announced. The tour will start in Grand Rapids, Michigan on July 3 and wrap up August 30 in Syracuse, New York. Bands confirmed for the tour include Jane's Addiction (the band of Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell), Audioslave, Incubus, Queens Of The Stone Age, the Donnas, and Jurassic 5.
A few weeks back at the Rock The Vote event in New York City, Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger was asked about his expectations for Lollapalooza 2003. He said he hoped the tour will be about fun, not aggression.
"I'm hoping that it will be more in the spirit of concerts that I went to when I was a kid," Einziger said. "It seems like, in rock music, a lot of the concerts have gotten violent and aggressive. And this seems more about love and having fun and love of music, which is what is close to my heart. And so I'm very excited about it."
