(7/2/03, 4 p.m. ET) -- Charlotte Church's first venture into acting has turned out to be a dud. The 17-year-old's feature film debut I'll Be There was released in England on June 20 and has already been pulled out of theatres.
I'll Be There was showing on 21 screens, and made a little more than $26,000 during its two-week run. I'll Be There is scheduled to open in a limited engagement in the U.S. on August 1.
I'll Be There was even poorly received in Church's hometown of Cardiff, Wales, where only $1,000 worth of tickets were sold.
I'll Be There tells the story of a washed-up '80s singer who learns he has a teenage daughter, the product of a weekend tryst years ago. Inspired by her father's arrival into her life, the daughter (played by Church) pursues her own dreams at a singing career.
