Semisonic Concentrating Overseas
10/21/1999 4:00 AM, Yahoo! Music Craig Rosen
(10/21/99, 1 a.m. PDT) - It may be quite a while before Semisonic releases a new album, since the band's song "Closing Time" is now gaining momentum over in England. To capitalize on the success, the band will tour the U.K., starting Oct. 27 at London's Sheppard's Bush Empire. While Semisonic is on the road, fans can find some the band's pre-recorded nuggets on the For The Love Of The Game soundtrack--for which the band recorded the title track--and on Friends Again, the second soundtrack release inspired by the TV show Friends. For the Friends Again collection, due on Nov. 23, the band re-recorded the song "Delicious," which originally appeared on the album Great Divide. All the U.K. activity means that the band won't return to the recording studio until next year. If what happened while the band was working on Feeling Strangely Fine is any indication, it may be quite a while before fans see a new Semisonic album. "I used to wonder about those bands," singer-songwriter Dan Wilson tells LAUNCH. "I'd hear about a band recording for a year and go, 'Self-indulgent f---s! What are they doing, recording for a year?' And here we were, like, recording and recording: 'Oh, that was a good week of work, but let's throw it away and start over.' Now I can understand how it can happen."
