Cheap Date At Woodstock

(7/16/98) - Organizers of "A Day In the Garden," the three-day concert that will be held on the site of the original Woodstock festival in Bethel, N.Y., are keeping in the spirit of the hippie-trippy, free-love vibe, and have gone economical. Tickets for August 16, the third day of the festival--which features alterna-lite favorites Third Eye Blind, the Goo Goo Dolls, Marcy Playground, Dishwalla and Joan Osborne--will be offered for $10 this weekend, a significant reduction from the regular $25 ($35 day of show) price. Since the show is expected to be at least 10 hours long, this works out to a buck an hour of top-name entertainment. Not bad--or as they used to say at the original Woodstock, groovy, man! Tickets for the festival's first two days--August 14, featuring Pete Townshend, Joni Mitchell, Lou Reed and Richie Havens, and August 15 with Don Henley, Stevie Nicks, Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers and Ten Years After--are priced at $69.98, but kids under 12 are free. -- Wendy Hermanson, Los Angeles
