(4/24/02, 10 a.m. ET) -- Bow Wow, formerly called Lil' Bow Wow, will kick off his Scream 2 Tour on July 25 at the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis. The national tour will support his gold sophomore album, Doggy Bag. Bow Wow's current single, "Take Ya Home," is Number 21 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.
Bow Wow's sold-out Scream Tour last year featured opening acts B2K, Lil' Zane, and Lil' Johnny. A spokesperson for the rapper did not reply to LAUNCH by press time to confirm any opening acts for the Scream 2 Tour.
In related news, Bow Wow was scheduled to perform for honor students Monday (April 22) at Southern University-Shreveport. Students from three area school districts were invited to participate in the event, but only one accepted the offer, according to the Associated Press.
Caddo Parish Superintendent Dr. Robert Schiller told AP that supporting "commercially sponsored activities during the school day" was a conflict with the district's discipline policies. In addition to performing, Bow Wow was scheduled to address staying in school and off of drugs.
Also, Bow Wow will hit the big screens July 12 in the 20th Century Fox feature Like Mike, where the rapper stars as an orphan teenager who magically inherits phenomenal basketball skills when he finds a pair of sneakers allegedly worn by Michael Jordan.
