(8/22/01, 5 p.m. ET) - The Verve Pipe's singer-songwriter Brian Vander Ark makes his silver-screen debut in the film Rock Star, which hits theaters September 14. In the picture, Vander Ark is a member of a cover band that kicks Mark Wahlberg's character out of the group.
Vander Ark said filming that scene was difficult, because it was very similar to his recent experience of his brother, bassist Brad Vander Ark, leaving the Verve Pipe: "Actually my brother just quit the band. And I've played with him for 12 years. So...that was actually a very tough scene, and most of that scene didn't make the movie. It was an emotional scene, honestly, it was, because it brought back all those memories. I'm not a trained actor in that respect, but I do know how people can dig down deep and get that out."
The Verve Pipe is set to release Underneath on September 11, and the first single from the album is "Never Let You Down."
